DevBytes - one app for the TECH

DevBytes - one app for the TECH

The Idea behind DevBytes

In today's world, technology and its surroundings are constantly changing at a rapid pace. The stacks, the processes, the ways, the tools we use today might turn out off the trend in a month. And developers like you and me, have no option but to catch things up (and we love this also, don’t we). Some of us love to see those changes and some of us don’t but the underlying thing is PROGRESS. We as our industry have to evolve continuously to new ideas, challenges and opportunities. And this was the idea for which I started using apps like “DevBytes” : A 64-word summarized piece of news that successfully makes you aware of what is happening around a particular thing from the TECH WORLD.

News that are truly YOURS

World is big. Tech Industry too. so then how come the amount of news that comes out of it will be small. Everyday a ton of things happens in our tech world, But we as different individuals - working on different fields doesn’t have interest on every bit of it. So the word NEWS should mean different to each of us : that is why DevBytes has a tab called “My Feed”, where you receive the same 64-word summarized news piece, but only about the things that you choose to see about, only about your favorite stack, your favorite language, the company you have an eye on.

One Notification is all we need

Another cool feature this app has is : Daily Digest. I feel the team at DevBytes very much understands that our life as developers and managers are busy to say the least. so they made the feature Daily Digest where we receive just one notification every day where all the stories of that day shows up as a list. and even more awesome is that we can schedule that notification too.

Code >>> Text

We as developers wake, live, eat, sleep with codes. then why our news will be just text. Imagine you are reading a news about a latest feature of JavaScript and then to test it you closed the app, opened google and then search for those latest code : that will be horrible, Right? That is why the team at DevBytes made sure that under some particular news there will be code snippet carrying all the relevant code that we need to see.

Opportunities are any day good

DevBytes does bring opportunities to our attention too and they integrated it very seamlessly. So in the app, we see news pieces as cards which we can swipe up and down. and the Job Opportunity listing comes up just as another card. (Did I mention the card swipe animations, they are buttery smooth)

Bookmarking and Sharing

You love a news : You , but as a Link? Nah! that is old school. the right way is both as an image and a link. when we share a news from DevBytes, it gets shared as image with the link as its caption, so that whoever we are sending it to will be able to read it all, know it all just when he/she saw the message.

Bookmarking feature is also there. If you loved something and wanted to check it out in detail later, you can bookmark it and find it in the bookmark section.

And that will be every feature I liked in DevBytes. Here is the link that will take you to the Play Store page of the app: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.c..

I was never a news guy, but now it seems like changing. and this is how I see it: If InShorts was the epitome of a news app having 10 Million Plus downloads, then DevBytes will soon be the InShorts of our Tech World
